So I was going through my iPhoto library the other day, Reader. Looking for something specific. But I got distracted deleting random photos that were hogging space.
Bad selfies. 🤦🏻♀️
Accidental recordings 🎥 of the ground.
A DMV appointment verification number. 🚙
The epic spiderweb 🕸️ on the trunk of my brother’s car.
Flight info from 6 months ago. ✈️
A cake decorated with a “turkey.” 🦃
The bath soap soap 🧼 I use, so my husband could buy the correct one at Sprouts.
A rack of sweaters 👕 that looks like someone murdered a muppet.
With the ease of snapping a photo on your phone these days, the app begins to look like a virtual junk drawer.
It’s kinda like writing down all the story ideas you have.
Maybe you have 5 different notebooks. 📚
The super pretty one you bought from that little shop while on vacation, but haven’t been able to bring yourself to actually write in. 📔
That cheap dollar store notebook you keep in your glovebox “just in case.” 📒
That tiny hardbound one you keep in your bag that makes you feel like some Noir P.I., solving a murder every time you write in it. 📓
The notes app on your phone full of so many nonsensical things that you just look at it in perplexed confusion whenever you open it. 😵💫
Or maybe you’re like I used to be, Reader, writing on whatever was at hand, from the back of school handouts to post-it notes. 📝
Back when I worked as a custom framer in art school, I used to write story ideas on the discarded pieces of receipt paper at the end of the roll. I’d jot down my ideas during my evening shifts, then stuff them into my apron pockets.
20 years later, I still find them every so often wedged between things in a box in the office.
Now wouldn’t it be amazing if all your notes were in one place, itemized and easy to access when you needed them?
That’s what I thought too. So I created the Story Quest Log. A paired physical and digital story notebook system, which I’ve been using since 2018.
It’s how I routinely write over 100,000 words a year. And how I ensure none of those creative ideas ever get lost.
I bet right now you’re thinking, Awesome, Kat, but how do I take advantage of something as useful as that?
Well, Reader I’m releasing a beautiful casebound hardcover edition of the Story Quest Log notebook on September 10. While the digital companion mini course will be launching later that month.
You can join the pre-order list for both here:
I’ll have more edutaining goodness for you next week + a sneak peek of the Story Quest Log notebook. Until then, this is your friendly neighborhood storytelling Kat wishing you a wonderfully creative week.
